Jimmy Malseed fired a one-hitter and third baseman Mike Flanigan provided the offense with a two-run single in the fifth inning as Media defeated Potter McKean in the state championship game. Malseed allowed only a broken-bat infield single to Potter-McKean's Bill Maxson in the first inning before throwing a no-hitter the rest of the way.

In the semifinals, third baseman Tom Peppler homered on the first pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning to snap a 1-1 tie and give Media a 2-1 victory over Duquesne National. Peppler had driven in the game's first run with a first inning single, while winning pitcher Al Gollatz struck out eight and allowed only an unearned run.

In the other semifinal, Potter McKean took advantage of five errors to defeat Tarentum-Brackenridge 5-3. Winning pitcher Steve Kudlock struck out seven and scattered five hits. Tarentum's George Klucinec hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning to break up the shutout.
