The top two teams in each pool advance to the state finals.
Ties are broken based on records in head-to-head competition among tied teams. If a clear winner cannot be determined from head-to-head results, the tie is broken by calculating the ratio of runs allowed to defensive innings played for all teams involved in the tie. The team with the lowest runs-per-defensive-inning ratio advances.
In the event of a tie involving three or more teams, once the initial tie is broken, the remaining tied teams are again compared on head-to-head record to determine if a clear winner can be identified. If no clear winner can be identified from head-to-head results among the remaining tied teams, the runs-per-defensive-inning ratio is again used. This process is repeated until all ties have been broken.

Both Phenix City leagues swept to two wins in pool competition, then defeated Huntsville-based leagues in the semifinal round. Phenix City American defeated Jackson Little League and Huntsville Eastern Little League in pool competition, while the Nationals downed Choctaw-Washington Little League and Huntsville International Little League.
In the semifinal round, Phenix City American edged Huntsville International, 6-4 in seven innings, while Phenix City National rolled past Huntsville Eastern by a 17-9 margin.
The win marked the first time that two Alabama leagues from the same city met for the state championship. Alabama began advancing two teams from each district to the state tournament in 2013.
Phenix City American and Phenix City National have now both won two state championships in the major baseball division. Phenix City National's titles came in 1999, when the league won the United States championship, and in 2005.
