The top two teams in each pool advance to the state finals.

Ties are broken based on records in head-to-head competition among tied teams. If a clear winner cannot be determined from head-to-head results, the tie is broken by calculating the ratio of runs allowed to defensive innings played for all teams involved in the tie. The team with the lowest runs-per-defensive-inning ratio advances.

In the event of a tie involving three or more teams, once the initial tie is broken, the remaining tied teams are again compared on head-to-head record to determine if a clear winner can be identified. If no clear winner can be identified from head-to-head results among the remaining tied teams, the runs-per-defensive-inning ratio is again used. This process is repeated until all ties have been broken.

Summary:

Kade Moseley and Solomon Foster combined on a three-hitter, leading their Jackson Little League all-star team to a 3-0 victory over Huntsville International Little League in the Alabama state championship game.

The win -- Jackson's fourth in as many games at the state tournament -- lifted the District 3 league into the Southeastern Region tournament for the second consecutive year.

Moseley struck out seven and surrendered just two hits through the first four innings of the championship game, and Foster then struck out two over the final two frames while closing out the win.

Jackson opened the scoring by tallying a pair of runs in the second inning. Deyjun Hunt sparked the rally with a single, then Drake Keith walked. Brihstyn Bell's sacrifice bunt moved the runners up, and an error on the play allowed Hunt and special pinch runner Dustin Vice to score on the play.

In the fifth inning, Foster singled and later scored on Moseley's base hit as Jackson extended its lead to 3-0.

Jackson opened the two-day tournament with a 9-6 victory over Phenix City American Little League, then followed that win with three consecutive shutouts. The defending state champions closed out round robin pool competition with a 17-0 victory over Huntsville International, then moved into the championship game with a 14-0 win over Choctaw-Washington Little League.

Devin Pitre threw a four inning complete game in the win over Choctaw-Washington, striking out nine and allowing just one hit. Jackson scored twice in the first inning, then expanded the lead when Moseley slammed a two-run homer beyond the right-center field fence in the second. Later that inning, Pitre reached on an infield single and eventually scored as Jackson extended the lead to 5-0.

Jackson added seven runs in the third to seal the victory. Cameron Schmidt opened the scoring with a two-run homer, and Foster later drew a bases loaded walk. Chase Pugh capped the inning with a two-run single that plated Moseley and Pitre and pushed Jackson's lead to double-digits.

Huntsville International, which reached the state championship game for the first time in the league's history, balanced out its round robin loss to Jackson with a win over Phenix City American that evened its pool record at 1-1. Huntsville then faced Phenix City National, which had swept to two victories in its pool, and eliminated the District 4 team in a 6-2 semifinal round decision.

Jackson faced a tough draw in the Southeastern Region tournament, and was placed in the same pool as eventual tournament champion South Nashville (Tennessee) Little League and runner-up Tuckahoe American Little League (Henrico, Virginia). The Alabama champions finished pool competition in third place following losses to those teams and a 6-4 victory over Northwood Little League (Taylors, South Carolina).
