Summary:

Dwayne Street's third-inning grand slam was the big blow as Round Rock won its first state title. Pitcher Bryan Gordon threw a two-hitter in the title game, and homered once in each of Round Rock's quarterfinal, semifinal, and title game wins. In Round Rock's opening round win, Gordon struck out 20 batters over nine innings and pitched 7 2/3 perfect innings before allowing Robstown's only hit. Robstown's Tim Ramon struck out 19 in nine innings of work. Kyle Woytek's RBI single in the bottom of the tenth inning plated the game's only run.

Six years later, six of Round Rock's players -- including Gordon and Woytek -- donned their Little League uniforms again, wearing them under their high school team uniforms for luck as Round Rock High School defeated Lubbock Monterey 7-1 in the championship game of the Texas class 5A (large school) high school state tournament.
