After using the long ball to oust Ridgway in the semifinal round, Jessup Carbino used a series of singles to defeat Pennsbury and win the state title. Jessup launched four home runs in its 8-5 win over Ridgway. Winning pitcher Joe Koniszewski, Tom Ratchford, Pete Giombetti, and Gary Pezak all homered for Jessup, while Koniszewski got the win despite allowing nine hits, including homers by Chris Allegretto, Gary Doyle, and Dan Kucenski. His teammates helped the cause by turning a triple play.

In the title game, Pennsbury American jumped to an early 2-0 lead before Jessup batted around and scored five times in the third inning. Jessup used five singles and a sacrifice fly to fuel the rally; Koniszewski later contributed a two-run homer. Winning pitcher Joe Chrusciel allowed four hits and struck out five.

Pennsbury had advanced to the championship game by defeating Oil City 4-1. Jay Maracani (3-for-3, homer, two RBIs) and Scott Applegate (3-for-3) provided the support for winning pitcher Keith Eisenberg.
