Summary:
Rich Lockard paced Berwick Area Little League to a pair of victories as his club captured its first ever state title. Lockard fired a three-hitter and homered to lead Berwick past Lionville Little League in the semifinals, and his third inning homer in the title game keyed Berwick past Connellsville Little League. It marked the only time in six appearances spanning four decades that a Connellsville team was defeated at the state tournament.
