Jordan Van Hoosier threw a two-hitter and his Green Valley Little League all-star team exploded for ten runs in the third inning to defeat Washoe Little League 12-1 in the Nevada state championship game at Silverado Ranch Park in Las Vegas.

The victory, Green Valley's eighth straight since the start of district tournament play, gave the Henderson-based league its second state title in three years, and its sixth overall. Green Valley has reached the Nevada state championship game in three consecutive years.

"The goal since day one was to play in the regionals," said Green Valley manager Rudy Reveles, who also managed the 2001 state championship team.

"I told these kids not to take anything for granted."

Green Valley's third inning assault left little doubt against a Washoe team it had defeated 11-1 in the winner's bracket finals. Braden Keith keyed the ten-run outburst with a three-run homer, while Van Hoosier delivered a two-run single. Green Valley sent sixteen batters to the plate in the inning, with Eric Stewart and Mike Revels adding RBI singles before Washoe finally retired the side.

The rally made things easier for Van Hoosier, who struck out nine in the four inning, mercy rule-shortened victory. Washoe's only run came in the third inning when Jake Mansfield walked and eventually scored on Raymond Daniels' double.

Green Valley opened the tournament with a 6-4 win over Las Vegas' Mountain Ridge Little League before advancing to the championship game with their first win over Washoe. Washoe outslugged Mountain Ridge 16-13 to earn a rematch in the title game.

Green Valley more than held its own at the West Region tournament in San Bernardino, California. After dropping an extra inning game to eventual region champion Chandler National (Arizona) Little League, Green Valley upended Southern California champion Vineyard Little League (Rancho Cucamonga) 5-2. Green Valley split its next two pool games to finish pool competition in second place, but was eliminated following a four inning, 14-2 loss to Vineyard in the semifinal round.
