Shortly after the Berlin Wall fell in November 1989, Little League Baseball granted charters for startup leagues in five Eastern European nations. While most chartered leagues in Europe at the time were populated with children of military or embassy personnel stationed in Europe, these new leagues were comprised of natives from Czechosolvakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, and Yugoslavia, and began play in the summer of 1990. Of these newly affiliated countries, Czechoslovakia and Poland sent teams to the 1990 European Region tournament. The first Czech team to participate in Little League Baseball's international tournament played its inaugural tournament game on July 28, 1990, when the United Kingdom emerged with a 21-3 victory.
Czechoslovakia sent teams to the European Region tournament again in 1991 and 1992, and earned its first-ever tournament win with a 10-9 win over the Netherlands on the third day of pool competition in 1991. Following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia into the countries of the Czech Republic and Slovakia on December 31, 1992, the Czech Republic continued to participate in the European Region tournament on an annual basis through 1996, and again in 2000. Following that year, no Czech league participated in the tournament for nearly a decade.
In 2009, Czechia -- then known only as the Czech Republic -- held its first national tournament and established a consistent presence in the international tournament. Czechia's four leagues gathered at the Hlubokà Baseball and Softball Club's facility in Hlubokà nad Vltavou, and South Moravia Little League from Brno won a pair of games to claim the first Czech national title. Upon this return to Little League Baseball's international tournament, Czech teams were highly competitive in the European Region tournament, reaching the semifinal round in 2010, finishing as the runner-up in 2011, and earning the country's first-ever berth in the Little League World Series when South Moravia defeated Emilia Little League (Italy) 3-0 in the 2013 region championship game.
Czechia expanded to add a fifth league in 2016, and as part of this expansion, South Moravia was renamed as South Czech Republic Little League.
Four Czechia leagues have participated in the Little League World Series. South Moravia Litte League earned the country's first win at the Little League World Series in 2013 with a 5-3 consolation game victory over Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores (Michigan) Little League.
